The Central Eléctrica de Betano ( English Betano Power Plant , German  Kraftwerk Betanao ) is an oil power plant near the south coast of East Timor . It is located northeast of the village of Betano in the Same administrative office ( Manufahi municipality ).

The power plant was commissioned on August 20, 2013. It has eight Wärtsilä type 18V46 motor-generators and a total output of 136  MW . Light oil , heavy oil or natural gas can be used as the primary energy source . In January 2017 it produced a total of 10,245.76 MWh. It thus supplies the south coast of the country.

The power plant was built by the China Nuclear Industry 22nd Construction Company (CNI22). The owner is the Electricidade de Timor-Leste (EDTL), the contract partner is the Indonesian Puri Akraya Engineering Ltd. In October 2017, Wartsilä signed an operating contract for the power plant for a further five years.
