Cercal is a Portuguese village in the municipality of Gesteira .
Culture and sights
The mansion Casa do Outeiro , built in 1903, is the most striking building on site, next to the village church of Capela do Cercal .
The band and music association Banda do Cercal was founded on December 25, 1903 and is also important as a music school and cultural association for the place.
Every year in winter since 1997 the rock festival Cercal Rock takes place in the club rooms of the Banda do Cercal . It is organized by the local rock band Balbúrdia, whose members come from here and the neighboring Carvalhal da Azoia . The group has had several publications since it was founded in 1996, but is only well known regionally. For the 20th anniversary of the band, she played at the São Mateus city festival in the district town of Soure, where they performed with Fischer-Z on September 17, 2016 . On the Cercal Rock they also performed several times themselves, u. a. 2016 together with Mata-Ratos and 2017 with Peste & Sida .
Cercal has a multi-purpose sports field.
Every year in August the place celebrates the festival of Nossa Sr.ª das Neves .

Cercal is directly connected to the county town of Soure via the EM-616 county road.
The closest train station to Linha do Norte is in nearby Vila Nova de Anços .
A weekday bus connection on the local Transdev line connects Cercal u. a. with the county seat of Soure.
economy
The largest local employer is the Santa Jacinta retirement home . A number of smaller companies are also based in the village, including a car workshop, a company for marble and granite processing, an electrical installation company and the like. a.
Several cafes and snack bars are open in the village.
A large number of residents make their living from activities in the surrounding towns of the Soure and Montemor-o-Velho districts .
