Chandauli ( Hindi : चंदौली Candaulī [ ˈtʃʌn̪ˈd̪ɔːliː ]) is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh .

Chandauli is located in the east of Uttar Pradesh about 30 kilometers southeast of the city of Varanasi (Benares). At the time of the 2011 census, Chandauli had 23,020 residents. The city is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .

The city is located on the Grand Trunk Road , which today follows the national highway NH 2 from Delhi to Kolkata . In addition, the railway line from Varanasi to Kolkata runs through Chandauli.
