The Changane (also Chengane ) is a tributary of the Limpopo in Mozambique .
course
The river is the last major tributary of the Limpopo. It is roughly south-easterly and forms the border between Gaza Province and Inhambane Province over a long stretch . It has only a slight gradient and hardly any runoff for most of the year, but in the event of heavy rain, the slight gradient can lead to devastating floods.
Its catchment area extends over an area of 43,000 km² to the south-east of Zimbabwe . These tributaries coming from the west form a large wetland in the Banhine National Park before they unite with the Changane. The Changane itself forms lakes and wetlands again and again due to the slight gradient. It flows into the Limpopo at Chibuto .
