Paul Vignancour

Charles-Marie-Paul Vignancour (also Paul Vignancour or Paul Vignancourt ; born May 7, 1908 in Clermont-Ferrand ; † November 8, 1987 ) was a French Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Bourges .

Life

He received on 11 April 1936, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 18, 1957 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed Bishop of Valence . He was ordained episcopal on March 19, 1958 in the Cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand by the Bishop of Clermont Pierre-Abel-Louis Chappot de la Chanonie ; Co- consecrators were Aimable Chassaigne , Bishop of Tulle , and Jean-Marie Villot , Auxiliary Bishop in Paris . Paul Vignancour attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council . He was raised on March 6, 1966 to titular archbishop of Neapolis in Proconsulari and appointed coadjutor archbishop of Bourges. On October 10, 1969, he succeeded in the Archbishopric of Bourges.

Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation on April 8, 1984.

Paul Vignancour was buried in the crypt of the cathedral of Bourges .
