Charles Clarence Pratt

Charles Clarence Pratt (born April 23, 1854 in New Milford , Susquehanna County , Pennsylvania , †  January 27, 1916 in Binghamton , New York ) was an American politician . Between 1909 and 1911 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Charles Pratt attended the public schools in his home country and then the Sedgwick Institute in Massachusetts and the Pennsylvania State Normal School in Bloomsburg . From 1879 he worked in New Milford in the oil industry and in the wood business. In his home country he held a number of local offices. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1899 and 1907 he was on the staff of the respective governor of Pennsylvania.

In the congressional elections of 1908 , Pratt was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 14th  constituency of his state , where he succeeded Democrat George Washington Kipp on March 4, 1909 . Since he was not confirmed in 1910, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1911 . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Pratt resumed his previous activities. He lived alternately in New Milford and Binghamton, where he died on January 27, 1916, and was buried in New Milford.
