Charles Duclerc

Charles Théodore Eugène Duclerc (born November 9, 1813 in Bagnères-de-Biggore , † July 21, 1888 in Paris ) was a French journalist and statesman.

He became involved in politics for the first time in 1848 during the Second Republic and served briefly as French finance minister. In 1851 he retired from political life. His second political career began in 1871 when he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies (France) at the beginning of the Third Republic . Since 1875 he also took a seat in the newly created Senate . From August 1882 he was Minister for Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister for half a year.
