Sir Charles William Dunstone (born November 21, 1964 in Saffon Walden , Essex ) is a British entrepreneur and founder and CEO of The Carphone Warehouse Group .

Life

After graduating from high school, Dunstone worked for one year at Torch Computers in Cambridge and the company NEC before studying business administration at Liverpool University . In 1989 he founded his own company, The Carphone Warehouse , with David Ross .

In 2005, Dunstone was named Daily Telegraph 's Business Person of the Year by the Daily Telegraph . In the Sunday Times “Rich List 2006” he came in 64th place with an estimated fortune of 830 million pounds (approx. 1.2 billion euros).

In 2012 he was knighted as a Knight Bachelor ("Sir") and in 2015 he was accepted into the Royal Victorian Order as Commander (CVO) .

His father is an executive at British Petroleum (BP).

The Carphone Warehouse

Dunstone is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer / CEO of The Carphone Warehouse Group. While Dunstone and Ross initially sold their cell phones directly from their London apartment , the company developed into the leading independent full-range communications and entertainment provider in Europe over the next 20 years.

Since October 2007 the company has been included in the FTSE 100 Index , which lists the 100 largest UK publicly traded companies.

The Prince's Trust

Dunstone is on the board of directors of the Prince's Trust, a Prince of Wales charity .
