Charles H. Joffe

Charles H. Joffe (born July 16, 1929 in Brooklyn , New York City , † July 9, 2008 in Los Angeles ) was an American film producer .

Career

Joffe was a freelance talent scout and manager while studying journalism at Syracuse University . From 1953 until the late 1980s he worked with Jack Rollins as an agent for comedians such as Robin Williams and Billy Crystal . He was the producer of almost all of Woody Allen's films , whom he discovered as a screenwriter and whose first acting role was in the feature film What's New, Pussy? procured. Joffe won the Oscar for best film of the year in 1978 as a co-producer of Der Stadtneurotiker . He is the stepfather of the director Nicole Holofcener .
