The list of Gambian missions abroad shows the embassies , high commissioners and consulates general of the Republic of Gambia .
Gambia gained independence from Great Britain in 1965 . As a relatively small country in West Africa , the Gambia only has a limited number of diplomatic missions abroad. The Gambia is one of the few countries that has official diplomatic relations with Taipei ( Republic of China (Taiwan) ). It maintained diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China until 1995 , but then moved to Taipei with the new Gambian government.
