Charlie Frazier

L. Charles "Charlie" Frazier (born August 17, 1907 in Radford (Virginia) , † September 3, 2002 in Port Charlotte , Florida ) was an American jazz musician ( tenor saxophone , also flute , clarinet ).

Live and act

Frazier worked from the early 1930s in the Jacksonville Harmony Trio, with whom Victor made the first recordings in Savannah in 1927 . From 1929 he was a member of the King Oliver Orchestra, worked in the following years a. a. also with James P. Johnson , Dave Nelson and the King's Men, Willie Bryant , Blanche Calloway and Putney Dandridge . From 1937 to 1944 he played with Jimmy Dorsey , 1945 with George Paxton , 1947 with Cab Calloway . In the 1950s and 60s he still worked with Wini Brown , Budd Johnson , Harry Dial ; his last recordings were made in 1980 with the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band (including Eddie Durham , Ram Ramirez , Tommy Benford ), with whom he also made a guest appearance in Dresden. Frazier participated in 161 recording sessions from 1927 to 1980.
