Charles "Charlie" Manuel Pasarell, Jr. (born February 12, 1944 in San Juan , Puerto Rico ) is a retired American tennis player and official.

Career

Charlie Pasarell began his career as an amateur in 1960 and was active as a professional player from 1968 to 1979. During his career he won 23 singles titles and 30 doubles titles. While he only reached the quarter-finals twice at Grand Slam tournaments , he was able to reach the final three times in doubles with changing partners: in 1965 at the US National Championships , 1970 at the French Open and 1977 at the Australian Open .

Between 1966 and 1974 he played five games for the US Davis Cup team . He won each of his three single games, of four double games he was able to win three.

After his active career, he was instrumental in launching the Indian Wells Masters in 1987 . Until 2012 he was tournament director. In 2013 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
