Charlotte Eisenblätter
Bertha Luise Charlotte Eisenblaetter (born August 7, 1903 in Charlottenburg , † August 25, 1944 in Berlin-Plötzensee ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .
Life
Charlotte Eisenblätter was born in her parents' apartment at Galvanistraße 10. She came from a working-class family and worked as a commercial clerk after elementary school . She was involved in the Friends of Nature and Workers' Sports Movement, and during the Nazi era she joined the communist resistance group around Robert Uhrig , Beppo Römer and John Sieg . Among other things, she copied the anti-regime leaflets that appeared regularly as an "information service" for a time, the distribution of which was subject to the death penalty . As chief secretary in a large company, she was able to help produce leaflets, write addresses and operate a removal machine.
It was there that she met Werner Seelenbinder . A love relationship developed between the two during this time.
Arrested in February 1942, she was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp . She was sentenced to death on July 10, 1944 for “preparing for high treason ”. The sentence was on 25 August 1944 in the criminal prison Berlin-Plötzensee enforced .
Honors
Since May 31, 1951 there has been a Eisenblätterstrasse named after her in the Berlin district of Pankow , district of Niederschönhausen .
On September 3, 1959, a stamp was issued in the GDR as a charity issue for the preservation of the Ravensbrück National Memorial with the value 15 + 10 ( Pfennig ) (catalog no. 717).
On September 12, 2008, a stumbling block was laid for Charlotte Eisenblätter at Goebelstraße 99 in the Charlottenburg-Nord district . The Berliner NaturFreunde took over the sponsorship.
