Charlotte Lewis (born August 7, 1967 in London ) is a British actress .

Movie

Lewis made her acting debut as a child in a small part of the television series Grange Hill , before she achieved a respectable success as a 17-year-old actress with the impersonation of María-Dolores de la Jenya de la Calde in Roman Polański's Pirates . She owed this film role to Polański's partner at the time, with whom she was friends. This film paved her way to Hollywood , so that the adventure film In Search of the Golden Child with Eddie Murphy could be produced that same year . Later films she starred in include Tripwire (1990) and Storyville (1992), Men of War (1994) and most recently Hey DJ (2003).

Personal

Lewis' mother is Irish and her father is of Iraqi origin. Then Lewis temporarily withdrew into private life to devote himself to her mother. In July 1993, a nude picture series appeared with her in Playboy . After a "creative break" from 1995, during which she did not make any films, she played again in film and television productions, but could no longer build on her success at the beginning of her career. In 2004 she became the mother of a son. Both live in London .
