Charlotte von Cosel

Charlotte Mathilde Adelheid von Cosel (born January 6, 1818 in Breslau , † April 22, 1904 in Charlottenburg ) was a German writer . She published under the pseudonym "Adelheid von Auer".

Life

Charlotte von Cosel came from the Prussian officer family von Cosel . She was the fourth of seven children of her parents, the later general of the cavalry Karl von Cosel (1789–1876) and Johanna Luise Charlotte von Auer (1795–1831). November 15, 1819 is also mentioned as a different date of birth. Charlotte von Cosel spent childhood and youth in Berlin, where her father served as a commanding officer, but above all in senior staff and in the war ministry. On May 9, 1848 he was board up for grabs placed and settled immediately with his second wife in 1833 geheirateten, Asta of Schkopp (1802-1880) to Schwedt about where he bought the house and garden. Charlotte von Cosel also moved there.

From 1856 onwards she published a number of popular short stories and novels , some of which also appeared in Der Gartenlaube (1869) and Über Land und Meer . After her father's death, she moved back to Berlin in 1876 and lived there as a freelance writer. After Brümmer, she did not leave Schwedt / Oder until 1887.

As far as is known, she published exclusively using her third first name - Adelheid - and the maiden name of her mother - von Auer.
