Auer (Prussian noble family)
Auer is the name of an originally from Bavaria originating noble family , which in Prussia came to some renown.
history
The family can be distinguished from several families of the same name, mainly Bavarian, to which there is no regular relationship .
With Albert von Auer (1307) and Georg von Auer (1478) the family each provided a commander in Ragnit . Johann von Auer was Grand Prior of the Order of St. John in the Reich from 1469 to 1486 and Christoph von Auer was the keeper of the Teutonic Order in Prussia in 1502 , then Landkomtur of Balley Austria .
In 1512 the family settled with the order mercenary and later house commander to Balga , Claus von Auer, mentioned in a document in the years 1519 to 1521, at Heiligenbeil . His descendants were mainly in Samland , where they owned, among others, Alkehnen, Damerau, Fuchsberg , Gaffken , Galtgarben, Goldschmiede, Nöpkeim, Regitten, Taplacken, Thierenberg , Warglitten, Wernershof as well as a number of other estates and were among the noblemen with the most extensive property holdings .
The family currently continues.
