Charpentier Mannsschild ( Androsace brevis ) is a species of the genus Mannsschild ( Androsace ) in the family of Primrose (Primulaceae).

features

Charpentier's Mannsschild is a perennial , low, loose grass growing plant. Leaves, pedicels and calyx are covered with two to three-pointed, short fork hairs. The leaves are arranged in rosettes. They are 3 to 5 millimeters long, spatulate to lanceolate and blunt at the front.

The flower stalks are 4 to 23 millimeters long and two to three times as long as the leaves. The individual flowers arise from the armpits of the rosette leaves and protrude far beyond them. The calyx is 4 to 5 millimeters long, broadly bell-shaped and divided up to the middle. The crown is pink. It is darker in the throat and has yellow bumps. The corolla tube is shorter than the lanceolate calyx lobes.

The flowering period extends from June to July.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 40.

Occurrence

Charpentier's Mannsschild is endemic in the Southern Alps west and east from Lake Como to the northern Bergamasque Alps . The species grows on lime-poor soils, on rubble and in crevices, mainly in the alpine zone at altitudes of 1700 to 2600 meters.
