The 18th stage of the Tour de France 2009 on July 23rd was a 40.5 kilometer individual time trial .
It was the third and final time trial of the 2009 tour and ran around Lac d'Annecy . Part of it was a 3rd category mountain classification.
The circuit was 40.5 kilometers long and contained an incline. The start was in reverse order of the previous day with a three-minute interval, so that the first driver at 11 a.m. and the two leading Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador as the last starter at 4:45 p.m. against the clock in a double sense (around the lake) to lead.
In this way, with the 77th starter, Fabian Cancellara (starting time 1:42 p.m., the best of the first time trial), at 2:30 p.m. when he crossed the finish line, a good comparison time for the two intermediate time measurement points ( Doussard (after 18 km) and Menthon ) (28.5 km; up to there the 205 m ascent of the 3rd category had to be overcome) and the finish line is known to all other riders who want to win the yellow jersey . His end time was then 48:33 minutes. With his victory, Contador was able to consolidate its leading position in the overall standings.
