Hashchash ibn Said ibn Aswad ( Arabic خَشْخَاش ٱبْن سَعِيد ٱبْن أَسْوَد, DMG Ḫašḫāš ibn Saʿīd ibn ʾAswad ; * in Pechina , Andalusia ) was a Moorish admiral.

In 859 he led an Umayyad fleet against the Normans on raids towards Seville . The fleet stopped the Normans when they entered the Guadalquivir , which is why the Normans instead plundered in the Mediterranean until 862 (including Ibiza ).

According to an almost legendary report by the Arab historian al-Masudi , the Chashchāsh, who set out from Palos , managed to cross the Atlantic in 889 and land in America . He returned from there the following year with rich treasures. The historicity of the report is, however, controversial.
