Chelsea Cain
Chelsea Cain (born February 5, 1972 in Iowa City ) is an American writer and journalist .
Life
Chelsea Cain grew up with her parents on a farm outside of Iowa City in a hippie - municipality on, moved at the age of 6 years with her mother to Bellingham (Washington) , where he attended school. After graduating from high school , she studied political science at the University of California, Irvine , and then journalism at the University of Iowa . Her master's thesis on the American hippie movement and her childhood in a hippie commune was published in 1996 under the title Dharma Girl: A road trip across the american generations . She wrote for numerous newspapers and, before devoting herself exclusively to her writing, worked as a columnist for the daily newspaper The Oregonian .
During her pregnancy in 2004 she wrote her first detective novel about the police officer Archie Sheridan and the intelligent and attractive serial killer Gretchen Lowell, which was published under the title Heartsick and published in German translation in 2008 under the title Furie . Since then, Chelsea Cain has been one of the most famous international thriller authors. In the meantime another five novels from the series about Sheridan and Lowell as well as the first volume of their new series about Kick Lannigan have been published.
From March 2016, Cain wrote the superhero series Mockingbird for the publisher Marvel Comics , which was discontinued with the eighth edition despite good reviews. In 2017, Cain and the illustrator Kate Niemczyk were nominated for the Eisner Award in the Best New Series category.
Chelsea Cain lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and daughter .
