Chelsea Blaine Stewart (born April 28, 1990 in Highlands Ranch , Colorado , United States ) is a Canadian former soccer player .
Life
Stewart was born in Colorado to the Canadian ice hockey player Bill Stewart and a Napolitan . She grew up in Denver and The Pas , Manitoba . Her brothers Jesse and Trevor and her father Bill are active in ice hockey. Stewart's younger sister, Emily, like Chelsea, is an active soccer player.
Career
In the club
Stewart started her career at the Colorado Rush and later for Real Colorado. During her time at Rush & Real, she ran for her school team, the Mountain Vista Mighty Golden Eagles. From 2009 to 2011 she played for the Women Soccer Team of the Vanderbilt Commodores and ran for the Vancouver Whitecaps Women . In 2011 she moved to UCLA and played for the UCLA Bruins for the next 2 years . After completing her studies, she started her professional career in the USA and signed with the Boston Breakers in January 2014 , which she loaned to INAC Kobe Leonessa in Japan in October 2014 . Returned to the Boston Breakers in February 2015, who traded Stewart to Western New York Flash in April 2015 . In July 2015, Stewart was added to the waiver list and fired. On August 8, 2016, Stewart announced her move to the German Allianz Women's Bundesliga at SC Freiburg . After Stewart came to only one Bundesliga assignment and 11 games for the Freiburg Reserve in the Regionalliga, she left the Breisgau again after one season .
International
Stewart played a total of 24 times for the Canadian U-19/20 teams. With the U-19 team, she won the CONCACAF U-20 women's championship in 2008 , took part in the U-20 women's soccer world championship in 2008 , but in which Canada was eliminated in the preliminary round, and the CONCACAF U-20 2008 women's championship.
At the age of 18, Stewart made her first of 41 international matches on March 5, 2009 at the Cyprus Cup against New Zealand . From then on she belonged to the tribe of the team, but continued to play for the U-20 team until 2010. In 2010 she won the Gold Cup with Canada , with which Canada qualified directly for the 2011 World Cup. In 2011, she won the Cyprus Cup with Canada and was appointed to the Canadian squad for the World Cup as the second youngest player . But she only came to a 13-minute deployment in the second game against France when it was already 3-0. Canada was eliminated in the preliminary round with three defeats.
She was also nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games . She was used in four of six games, where she was substituted on in the second half or the extension of the semifinals against the USA.
