life and work

Chen Wen Ling comes from a poor background and studied at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.

He achieved international fame with a multitude of provocative and often grotesque, sometimes surreal works such as the Red Memory series (consisting of around one hundred individual pieces), in which he created playful naked boys with Chinese features and exaggeratedly long extremities, which he monochrome with shining lighter red paint coated. He showed some of these works in numerous cities in China such as Chengdu , Xi'an and Shanghai , but also repeatedly in Sydney, Australia, and in Perth . Other of his series are titled China Scene and Happy Life .

With his work, Chen Wen Ling wants to show the increase in consumption in China today and the tension with its stricter communist past. He exhibits worldwide and lives and works in Beijing. Chen Wen Ling is married with three children.
