Chicken nuggets from McDonald’s

Chicken nuggets (composed of the English word for chicken and nugget ) are bite-sized, breaded and deep-fried pieces of chicken or molded chicken . They belong to the standard range of American fast food providers such as McDonald’s , Burger King or Kentucky Fried Chicken , but are also offered in grocery stores as frozen or chilled foods .

To make chicken nuggets, first thumb-sized pieces of chicken breast or shaped meat are seasoned and pre-cooked, then breaded with breadcrumbs or cornflakes , for which in 1950 Robert C. Baker , a professor of food science at Cornell University in Ithaca , New York ( USA ), a special procedure was developed. Then they are mostly deep-frozen (sometimes after deep frying). For preparation, the nuggets are fried or baked in the oven or fried in the pan. They are usually served with a sauce to dunk, the so-called dip .
