The Chigmit Mountains form a mountain range of the Aleutian Range at the approach of the Alaska Peninsula in southwest Alaska , about 200 km southwest of Anchorage . They rise along the west coast of Cook Inlet and cover an area of approximately 12,300 km² with a length of 220 km in a south-west-northeast direction and a width of 80 km.
To the south the mountain range extends to a line connecting Iliamna Lake and Bruin Bay . In the west, the mountains are separated from the Neacola Mountains further west by the Newhalen River , Lake Clark , Tlikakila River , Blockade Lake and Blockade Glacier .
The highest mountain of the Chigmit Mountains and also of the Aleutian chain is Mount Redoubt with a height of 3108 m .
The Chigmit Mountains, together with the Neacola Mountains, form the link between the Aleutian and Alaska ranges . With Mount Redoubt and Mount Iliamna you have two important stratovolcanoes .
The Lake Clark National Park extends over part of the Chigmit Mountains.
