The China Road and Bridge Corporation , or CRBC for short, ( Chinese  路桥 建设  /  路橋 建設 , Pinyin Lùqiáo Jiànshè , English Road and Bridge Construction ) is a Chinese state-owned company that is primarily engaged in civil engineering, i.e. building, tunnel, Road and bridge projects. It belongs to the China Communications Construction Company group .

Company history

The company, founded in 1979, is one of the largest of its kind in the People's Republic of China ; since 2005 it has been part of the China Communications Construction Company. The company is active worldwide in civil engineering, mostly on behalf of the Chinese government, it has more than 40 branches all over the world. Numerous construction projects of the company are part of the Chinese development cooperation.

CRBC is the largest and most active state-owned construction company on the African continent. According to the OECD, CRBC carried out more than 500 construction projects in Africa in 2004.

criticism

CRBC are accused of collusion on a construction project in the Philippines by the World Bank . As a result, the company is blocked for projects financed by the World Bank for eight years. CRBC denies the allegations. Bribery allegations were also raised when a railroad project was awarded in Kenya in 2014 .
