The sour and spicy soup or Beijing soup ( loan translation from Chinese  酸辣 湯  /  酸辣 汤 , pinyin suānlàtāng , Vietnamese súp chua cay , also known as hot and sour soup ) is an enema soup of Chinese cuisine .

It is particularly widespread in north and west China, it is a specialty in Beijing and in the Sichuan province , but similar soups can also be found in other Chinese regional kitchens and throughout Southeast Asia . Comparable is suan la tang about the Tom Yam of Thai and Laotian cuisine.
