Chinnanit ( Hebrew חִנָּנִית; German: Gänseblümchen ) is an Israeli community settlement in the West Bank that was illegally established under international law and is administered by the Shomron Regional Council . In 2017 there were 1295 inhabitants in the settlement.
Naming
The place was named after the daisy that is common in the region.
history
The settlement was first founded in 1980 as Moshav Owdim by the Moshavim movement. In January 1981, mountain Jews from the Caucasus Mountains settled in the place, and the place was converted into a community settlement .
Location and surroundings
Chinnanit is located on Highway 65 and forms the largest settlement in the so-called Schaked settlement block ( Hebrew גּוּשׁ יִישּׁוּבִי שָׁקֵד), consisting of the settlements Shaked ( Hebrew שָׁקֵד), Chinnanit, Rechan ( Hebrew רֵיחָן) and Tal Menasche ( Hebrew טַל מְנַשֶּׁה).
