The Chobda ( Kazakh Қобда Qobda ; Russian Хобда , in the upper reaches Большая Хобда (Bolshaya Chobda)) is a left tributary of the Ilek in the Kazakh region of Aqtöbe .
The Chobda arises at the confluence of two source rivers that arise in the northwest of the Mugodschar Mountains . It flows in a predominantly north-westerly direction, passes the town of the same name and meets the Ural tributary Ilek after 225 km . The last kilometers the Chobda forms the border river between Kazakhstan and Russia . The Chobda drains an area of 14,700 km². Your outflow fluctuates a lot. With strong water flow it reaches 650 m³ / s, with low water it can be 3 m³ / s. The water from the Chobda is used for irrigation .
