Chris Conner (born December 23, 1983 in Westland , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who has played for the Binghamton Devils in the American Hockey League since July 2019 .
Career
Chris Conner began his career as a hockey player in 2002 on the ice hockey team at Michigan Technological University , for which he played for a total of four years until 2006. On July 13, 2006, the American signed a contract as a free agent with the Dallas Stars . In the years 2006 to 2008 Conner played predominantly for Dallas then farm team , the Iowa Stars from the American Hockey League . His first goal in the National Hockey League Conner scored on December 27, 2006 in a game against the Colorado Avalanche .
From the 2008/09 season Conner was both in the squad of the Pittsburgh Penguins , but initially played mainly in the farm team Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the AHL. In the course of the 2010/11 season he became a regular in Pittsburgh after key players such as Sidney Crosby and Yevgeny Malkin were long-term out. At the end of the season, the Penguins did not extend his contract, so Conner was signed as a free agent by the Detroit Red Wings in July 2011 . A year later he got a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes . In July 2013, he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. This was not renewed after the 2013/14 season, so that Conner joined the Washington Capitals in July 2014 , where he was used almost exclusively with the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
The attacker then signed a two-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers in July 2015 , which, however, only used him with their AHL farm team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms . After the end of his contract in Philadelphia, Conner renewed his contract in July 2017 only with the Phantoms, without having played for the Flyers in the NHL. After all, he played in Allentown until the summer of 2019, before joining the Binghamton Devils from the AHL.
