Chris Hedges (born September 18, 1956 in St. Johnsbury ) is an American journalist and author.

Life

Hedges is the son of a Presbyterian preacher . He graduated from Colgate University and Harvard Divinity School . Hedges specialized in American and Middle Eastern politics and society. From 1990 to 2005 he worked as a foreign correspondent for the New York Times . In 2002, he and his team were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for explanatory reporting on global terrorism.

Hedges is a columnist for the online magazine Truthdig , the weekly column published by it.

Chris Hedges is married for the second time and has four children.
