Christopher Henderson (born December 11, 1970 in Edmonds , Washington ) is a retired American football player.

His younger brother, Sean Henderson, also played soccer. He is currently the director of the Seattle Sounders Academy.

youth

Chris Henderson attended Cascade High School in Everett , Washington . 1989 played for one season for Seattle Storm in the Western Soccer League.

In 1989 he went to the University of California, Los Angeles , where he played for the local college soccer team for two years. In his sophomore season he won the national championship with the team. After graduating, he moved to Germany to FSV Frankfurt .

Club career

In the 1994/1995 season he played for FSV Frankfurt in the 2nd Bundesliga . After the 1994/1995 season he played for a year in Norway for Stabæk Fotball .

In 1996 he returned to the USA and played for the Colorado Rapids in the then newly founded Major League Soccer . Other positions in the MLS were Kansas City Wizards , Miami Fusion , Columbus Crew . In 2006 he ended his career with the New York Red Bulls .

National team

From 1990 to 2000 he played 79 times for the US national team and scored 3 goals.

Henderson was in the US World Cup squad for the 1990 World Cup in Italy. In 1992 he played for the USA at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona .

After football

Since January 2008 he has been Technical Director of the MLS club Seattle Sounders FC .
