Edmonds is a US city ​​in Washington state . It is located about 18 km north of Seattle in Snohomish County . Almost 40,000 people live in Edmonds.

history

The town was founded in 1884 as a logging settlement and was named Edmonds in 1890. In 1891 it was connected to the Great Northern Railway . Edmonds initially gained importance as a ferry port and location of a shipyard . In both 1909 and 1928, numerous buildings in the young city were destroyed by major fires.

Edmonds is now heavily involved in the greater Seattle area. Many of its citizens work in the nearby metropolis. Edmonds is also a port on the Washington State Ferries system that connects most of the cities in Puget Sound . Edmonds has a high school and theater . It is twinned with the city of Hekinan in Japan .
