Christopher Francis "Chris" Hogg (born March 21, 1985 in Middlesbrough , North Yorkshire ) is a retired English football player .

Career

Hogg's first stop in his football career was York City . He was the captain of England's U-15 national team. In 2001 he moved to the then first division club Ipswich Town , but could never be used here because of a clause in the contract with York City. In 2003 he was loaned to Boston United for a year . Due to the precarious financial situation of Ipswich Town, Hogg moved to the Scottish first division club Hibernian Edinburgh in 2005 . In January of the same year, the Englishman was seriously injured while trying to prevent his sister's car from being stolen.

In his early days at Hibernian, Hogg found it difficult to get a regular place. Under coach John Collins he was finally used more often and formed the central defender pair with Rob Jones . Hogg is currently the club's vice-captain behind Jones. He was also part of the team that beat FC Kilmarnock 5-1 in the Scottish League Cup final in 2007 . In June 2007 he extended his contract with the Hibs until 2011; two years later, the club promoted him to team captain after the departure of Rob Jones. After his contract was terminated in January 2011, he moved to Inverness Caledonian Thistle .
