Life

England

Jones initially worked in amateur football at Gateshead FC until 2003 , while also working as a physical education teacher. In 2003, however, he switched to the then third division Stockport County . Jones stayed here for a year and finished 19th with his club in the season. In the same season he was loaned to Macclesfield Town , but only played one game here. In 2004 he moved to Grimsby Town from Football League Two . In the first season Jones was rarely used, Grimsby Town reached 18th place in the table. In his second season at Grimsby, Jones became an integral part of the team and was fourth with his club. In the same season, Grimsby Town defeated Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the Football League Cup , but then failed to Cheltenham Town .

In June 2006 the Englishman signed a four-year contract with Hibernian Edinburgh . Six months later, in January 2007, Jones was named captain of the Hibs. Kevin Thomson had left the club for Glasgow Rangers . In the final of the Scottish League Cup in 2007, which was won 5-1 against FC Kilmarnock , the defender scored the 1-0. Jones was very popular with fans of Hibernian Edinburgh, so some fans created their own song with the melody of the song Gold by the band Spandau Ballet for Rob Jones.

Back in England

At the end of the 2008-09 season, Jones was associated with a number of English second division clubs, including Derby County , Nottingham Forest , Bristol City and Swansea City . For an unspecified amount, he finally joined Scunthorpe United , which had just been promoted from the third division.

Style of play

Jones is very strong at the top due to his enormous height of over two meters. This is of great benefit to him both in defense and in attack with standards such as corners or free kicks .
