Chrysi Biskitzi

Chrysi Biskitzi ( Greek Χρύσα Μπισκιτζή , * 18th November 1974 in Athens ) is a former Greek lightweight - rower . She took part in the Olympic Games four times and was European champion in 2007 and 2008.

Athletic career

After Biskitzi had finished eighth in the lightweight double scull at the Nations Cup , the forerunner of the U23 World Championships, in 1994 , she won the bronze medal. Together with Angeliki Gkremou she rowed at the 1996 Olympic Games , the two of them took third place in the C final, a total of 15th place. Two years later she won at the World Championships in Cologne together with Grkemou, Evangelia Kokkinou and Irini Zora the bronze medal in the non-Olympic lightweight quadruple sculls . At the Olympic Games in 2000 she finished eleventh with Gkremou in the double scull.

At the World Championships 2001 Biskitzi reached sixth place with the lightweight quadruple scull. The following year, Gkremou and Biskitzi were tenth in double sculls at the 2002 World Championships . Chrysi Biskitzi and Maria Sakellaridou took twelfth place both at the 2003 World Championships and at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens . In 2005, Biskitzi tried in the non-Olympic lightweight one and reached seventh place at the world championships .

In 2006 she formed a lightweight double scull with Alexandra Tsiavou , the two of whom won the bronze medal at the 2006 World Championships . In 2007 Biskitzi and Tsiavou finished fifth at the World Championships in Munich . At the European Championships in Poznan in 2007 Biskitzi and Tsiavou won the title. The two were able to defend this title in front of their home crowd in Athens in 2008 , while they finished sixth at the Olympic Games in Beijing .
