Christa Jump

Christa Springe (born December 12, 1926 in Stettin ) is a German Protestant pastor , social worker and ecumenical activist .

Life

As a young woman, Springe began to work in the Evangelical Academy of Bad Boll , where she was committed to the inclusion of women in a male-dominated society. The emphasis on gender equality in industrial and social work of the Evangelical Church was her life theme. She did not study Protestant theology until late . In 1966 she was ordained and called to be a pastor. She devoted herself to church industrial and social work in several places: in Witten , in Haus Villigst von Schwerte , in Bad Boll , at the Gossner mission in Mainz-Kastel and from 1970 in Mainz . She was a co-founder of the " European Working Group on Church and Work (ECG)" and the " Work and Economy Network in the European Churches (WEN)". She also took part in the preparation of the European Ecumenical Assemblies . She became the President of the Second Assembly that took place in Graz in 1997 .

Springe also participated in various church and social initiatives. From 1975 to 1989 she was part of the editorial team of the journal of the ecclesiastical brotherhoods of the Confessing Church (BK) “ The Voice of the Congregation ”. She was also a founding member of the “ Gustav Heinemann Initiative ” (GHI).

Christa Springe was married to Horst Symanowski in his second marriage.
