Life

Nagel was born in South Africa and grew up in Durban. As part of the Durban surfing community, he has long been part of the skating and surfing subculture .

Since he became interested in art, he attended art courses. One of the first awards he won was the ABSA Bank Award for Children. In high school he continued his artistic education and took lessons from the Scottish artist Fiona Kirkwood. During this time he experimented with a number of techniques such as drawing , painting (including charcoal painting), and sculpture .

Works

One of his most recent exhibitions, called "The FI of The Underworld," depicts the story of metaphysical fish swimming through physical objects. Everything is based on a hallucination .

Among other things, he set up oversized mushroom sculptures (seven meters high) in the Urban Spree Gallery in Berlin . He exhibited another “mega mushroom” on May 24, 2016 in the Red Gallery in Shoreditch, London .

In addition to mushrooms, which he sees as part of a big narrative , he is working on a fantasy book that deals with the subject of perception , consciousness and dream content . He describes it as his dream to build a mushroom land. It's supposed to be a theme park that provides a foundation for its story and the characters in the book.

Nagel is not only into street art, but is also a trained musician, guitarist, composer and singer. He designed the guitar "The Nail", which was built by the German guitar maker Jozsi Lak.
