Christian Baudelot
Christian Baudelot (born December 9, 1938 in Paris ) is a French sociologist and professor emeritus at the École normal supérieure in Paris.
In the first phase of his academic career he was close to the philosophy of Louis Althusser . Later he oriented his studies on the sociology of education to Pierre Bourdieu .
After studying and doing his doctorate (1982), Baudelot was an assistant at Yale University and then conducted research under Raymond Aron and Bourdieu at the Center de Sociologie Européenne . Then he did his military service. Teaching activities at various French universities followed. In 1984 he became professor of sociology at the University of Nantes , and in 1990 he moved to the École Normale Supérieure.
