Christian Bockelmann (* 1579 in Stettin ; † January 1, 1661 in Groß Nenndorf ) was a German Protestant theologian.

Life

The son of the glazier and painter Lutter Bokelmann and his wife Anna Lindner had already lost their father after six months. Since the mother remarried, the stepfather took care of his upbringing. He made sure that he attended school in Stettin and was able to continue his education at the schools in Greifswald and Kyritz . After he had attended the princely pedagogy in Szczecin, he moved to the University of Frankfurt (Oder) in 1598 to study philosophy and languages.

He then traveled with young noblemen through Lusatia, Silesia, Moravia and Bohemia. In Prague he had followed the disputations at the Carolinum and at the Jesuit colleague for a while. Another trip took him via Electoral Saxony to Hamburg , where he became the tutor of a lawyer and was active as such in Bonenburg for two years . In 1601 he became a private tutor in Stadthagen , followed the disputations at the town's high school and went to Lemgo to be trained by Mag. Sylvester Pribenius for two years.

In 1604 he became cantor in Rinteln , was appointed rector of the city school there in 1611 and was crowned Poeta Lauretatus by the imperial Count Röbbig . In 1626 he became pastor in Groß Nenndorf and in 1640 rose to superintendent of the offices in Rodenberg and Hagenburg , although after the Peace of Westphalia he only had the office of Rodenberg under his supervision.
