Christian Dieffenbach

Ludwig Christian Dieffenbach (born July 16, 1791 in Angersbach ; † August 5, 1853 in Künzell ) was a Hessian pastor, teacher and member of parliament.

family

Christian Dieffenbach comes from a pastor's family. The grandfather Adam Gerhard Balthasar Dieffenbach (1720–1781) was pastor and private tutor of Johann Hermann Riedesel zu Eisenbach , the father Johann Wilhelm Dieffenbach (1755–1813) pastor in Wallenrod and Nieder-Moos. The mother was Sophie Karoline nee Bender († March 2, 1810). Dieffenbach married on February 14, 1818 in Schlitz Friederike born Schlez (* 1801), the daughter of the doctor of theology, church councilor and pastor in Schlitz, Johann Ferdinand Schlez (1759-1839). Their son Georg Christian Dieffenbach also became pastor and member of parliament.

Life

Dieffenbach attended the Pädagogium Gießen from 1808 to 1810 and studied theology at the University of Gießen from 1810 to 1812 . From 1812 to 1814 he was head of the Gießen girls' school and from 1814 to 1817 pastor in Altenschlirf . From 1817 to 1840 he was second pastor in Schlitz, in 1833 he became dean and from 1840 to 1853 senior pastor.

politics

After the March Revolution , the members of the first chamber of the estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse were elected for the first time. Dieffenbach was elected in 1849 for the constituency 4 Lauterbach and Herbstein and was confirmed in the election in 1850. In 1850 he became Second President of the Chamber and resigned at the end of the 1850 electoral term.
