Christian Distelmeyer

Christian Distelmeyer (also Christian Distelmeier ; born May 23, 1552 in Magdeburg , died October 26, 1612 in Berlin ) was Chancellor of the Mark Brandenburg from 1588 to 1598.

Life

He was the son of Lampert Distelmeyer , who later became Chancellor, and his wife Anna. Christian Distelmeyer studied law in Leipzig and was appointed to the electoral council in Brandenburg in 1577 . In 1588, after the death of his father, he became his successor as Chancellor for Elector Johann Georg. He also inherited the feudal lordship in Mahlsdorf and Radensleben .

In 1598, Distelmeyer was deposed as Chancellor by the new Elector Joachim Friedrich . In 1605 he went blind and was healed again in 1606. In 1609 he was appointed to the Privy Council .

Christian Distelmeyer was a learned man who owned an extensive library that could also be used by others. Some texts of religious content and a poem by him have survived.
