Christian Günther I. von Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (born May 11, 1578 in Sondershausen ; † November 25, 1642 in Arnstadt ) ruled as Count of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen from 1599 .

Life

Count Christian Günther I was the youngest son of Count Johann Günther I of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen (1532–1586) and his wife Countess Anna (1539–1579), daughter of Count Anton I of Oldenburg-Delmenhorst .

When his father died, he and his brothers were still under the age of majority and so they were under the tutelage of their unions , Counts Johann VII (1540–1603) and Anton II (1550–1619) of Oldenburg , and they later ruled together. In 1593, after the inheritance contract of 1433, they acquired the county of Honstein , of which, however, after a long dispute, they received little.

In the Thirty Years' War the county, especially Arnstadt and the surrounding area, suffered terribly from billeting and other war burdens. The brothers tried their best to alleviate the horror afterwards.

In Sondershausen, the brothers had the north wing of the residential palace added .
