biography

Colas made his debut on December 1, 2001 in the Freestyle Skiing World Cup and reached 13th place in Tignes . This was by far his best result this winter. In the 2002/03 season he was classified several times among the top 20. At the 2003 World Cup in Deer Valley , he surprisingly advanced to fifth place in the Moguls competition. In the winter of 2003/04 he was finally able to establish himself in the midfield and achieved the best World Cup result so far in fifth in Špindlerův Mlýn . In the 2004/05 World Cup season he reached fourth and fifth place twice, and he was also fourth at the 2005 World Cup in Ruka in the Moguls competition.

On March 1, 2006, Colas was second in Jisan for the first time on the podium, two weeks earlier he had finished tenth at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Colas celebrated his first World Cup victory on January 13, 2007 in Deer Valley. There were also three more podium places this winter. This was enough in the Moguls and Dual-Moguls discipline ratings each for second place, both times he had to admit defeat to the Australian Dale Begg-Smith . At the end of the season, he won the Dual Moguls silver medal at the 2007 World Cup in Madonna di Campiglio .

In the 2007/08 season Colas won two World Cup races, with only Begg-Smith being better in the discipline ranking. He celebrated two more victories in the 2008/09 season; despite three additional podium places, it was only enough to finish second in the discipline rankings behind Canadian Alexandre Bilodeau . The 2009 World Cup in Inawashiro was disappointing with twelfth place as the best result. In the 2009/10 World Cup season Colas won three races and was never classified worse than sixth place, which was enough for second place in the discipline ranking. At the 2010 Winter Olympics , he was in the lead after qualifying, but then fell back to sixth place.

Colas dominated the 2010/11 World Cup season. He won four times and was second three times and third twice. At the 2011 World Cup in Deer Valley, he was able to live up to his role as a favorite and won the gold medal in the Moguls competition. In the last race of the season he secured both the first win of the Moguls Discipline World Cup and the overall World Cup by winning the day in Myrdalen-Voss .

Colas ended his active career after the 2013-14 season .
