Christian Gottlieb Bergmann

Christian Gottlieb Bergmann (born March 30, 1734 in Zittau ; † January 15, 1822 there ) was a German lawyer and mayor of Zittau.

Life

The son of the citizen and cloth maker Christian Bergmann and his wife Anna Rosina (née Altenberger) had attended high school in Zittau. In 1756 he began studying law at the University of Wittenberg , where he worked as a student in the German-practicing society of Johann Daniel Titius . After he had passed his law exam in 1761, he went back to his homeland.

In the same year he became official advocate in Görlitz and public-imperial notary in Zittau. In 1762 he became the official director in Reibersdorf , received his doctorate in 1765 in Wittenberg Doctor of Rights was 1789 Counsel become in Zittau and 1800 mayor of the city. After two terms in office, he was retired in 1804 for reasons of age and lived in Zittau until the end of his life.

His marriage to Friderike Johanna Renate, the youngest daughter of Pastor Immanuel August Wenzel, had 18 children, of which four daughters and two sons outlived their father. His son Friedrich Christian Bergmann became the chief town clerk in Zittau.
