Christian Gottlieb Hommel

Christian Gottlieb Hommel (born April 27, 1737 in Wittenberg ; † February 2, 1802 there ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Born as the son of the Wittenberg notary Gottlieb Friedrich Hommel, he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg on October 9, 1753 , where he passed the notary exam on June 30, 1760 and obtained his doctorate and doctorate in law on May 20, 1765 . In 1766 he was given the full professorship of the Pandeken (de Verborum Signif. Et Reg. Jur) and an observer position at the Faculty of Law.

On May 1, 1787 he became professor of the institutions, moved to the professorship for the Digestum infortiatum novum in 1790 and in 1796 for the Dignestum vetus. In a secondary position, Hommel was an assessor at the Wittenberg court from 1787 and later an assessor at the Wittenberg consistory . Hommel dealt primarily with canon law, with German private and criminal law. In the summer semesters of 1795 and 1789 he was the rector's office of the Wittenberg University.
