Christian Heinrich Bünger

Christian Heinrich Bünger (born October 11, 1782 in Braunschweig , † December 8, 1842 in Marburg ) was a German surgeon and anatomist .

Life

Bünger studied in Halle under Justus Christian Loder and at the University of Helmstedt under Gottfried Christoph Beireis . After completing his studies, he got a job as a prosector at the University of Helmstedt, when it was closed in 1810, he went to the University of Marburg . There he was employed as an associate professor in 1812 and as a full professor of anatomy in 1815. He also became director of the Anatomical Institute at the University of Marburg in 1812. Bünger founded the Marburg Anatomical Collection , which he enriched with further specimens and collections until his death. After his death, his heart and skull were added to the collection.
