Christian Rudolf Heinrich Puchta (born August 19, 1808 in Cadolzburg ; † September 12, 1858 in Augsburg ) was a Protestant pastor and songwriter.

Life

Heinrich Puchta was the youngest child of the Bavarian district judge Wolfgang Heinrich Puchta and his wife Johanna Philippine nee. Heim, he was also the younger brother of the lawyer Georg Friedrich Puchta (1798–1846), who was one of the most important legal scholars of the 19th century. Heinrich Puchta studied theology and philology in Erlangen and Berlin . During his studies he became a member of the Erlangen fraternity in the winter semester of 1826/27 . After passing the theological exam, Heinrich Puchta became city vicar in Munich. In 1838 he passed his doctorate and in 1839 got his first job as a professor at the newly organized Lyceum in Speyer. From 1842 on he was pastor in Eyb near Ansbach for ten years , then in Augsburg. Here he was pastor at the Barfüßerkirche St. Jakob.

Puchta was involved in the creation of the hymnbook for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria from 1854. In the Evangelical Hymnbook , the official hymnbook of the Evangelical Church in Germany and Austria , Puchta is with the song " Lord, the harvest is blessed " (No. 512 ) represented.
