Christian Joachim Friedrich Barkow
Christian Joachim Friedrich Barkow (born June 24, 1755 in Sülze , † April 13, 1836 in Loitz ) was a German theologian.
biography
After private lessons at home and in Rostock , he was sent to the cathedral school in Güstrow and then attended the University of Greifswald until Easter 1776. After having worked as a private tutor on Rügen and Stralsund for nine years , King Gustav III appointed him . in January 1786 to the pastor in Trent on Rügen.
In 1802 Barkow was appointed to the prepositus in Loitz from Trent and took up his post there in March 1803. Barkow was Loitzer Superintendent and Consistorial Councilor. In 1806 he was a representative of the clergy in the Greifswald state parliament . During the renovation of the Sankt-Marien-Kirche from 1809 to 1811 under the direction of Johann Gottfried Quistorp he was the responsible pastor of the church. In 1810 the Swedish king appointed him to a committee that worked out proposals for a future constitution for Swedish Pomerania .
He was married to a daughter of the Wolgast prepositus Johann August Kriebel , Christine Amalie (1769-1808), and was the father of at least 11 children. One of his sons was the later Greifswald professor August Friedrich Barkow (1791–1861), another was the Breslau professor Hans Karl Barkow (1798–1873).
He was buried on the north wall of the church in Loitz.
