Dirk Schleinert (born June 2, 1966 in Greifswald ) is a German archivist and historian . He published numerous writings on the history of Pomerania .

biography

Dirk Schleinert grew up in the community of Görmin and attended the polytechnic high school there . He first learned the profession of zoo technician / mechanizer in Eberswalde-Finow and at the same time earned his Abitur . Schleinert studied history and Scandinavian studies at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University of Greifswald and the University of Linköping , as well as archival science at the “Franz Mehring” technical school for archives in Potsdam and the Marburg archive school . In 1999 he was with a dissertation on the agrarian history of Pomerania for which it as part of the Gifted the Konrad Adenauer Foundation was awarded a scholarship at the Faculty of Arts University of Greifswald to Dr. phil. PhD. This work, published by Böhlau Verlag in 2001, was awarded the science prizes of the Society for Pomeranian History, Archeology and Art and the Pomeranian Landsmannschaft . In November 2000 the Sparkasse Vorpommern awarded him their sponsorship award for his services to German-Polish cooperation as part of the third Polish culture week " PolenmARKT ". Schleinert was the first ever to receive this award.

He worked as an archivist at the Greifswald State Archives , the Schwerin State Archives and, between 2002 and 2014, the Saxony-Anhalt State Archives in Magdeburg and Wernigerode . Since March 1, 2014 he has been director of the city ​​archive of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund . and was a board member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association of the Association of German Archivists from 2017 to the end of 2018.

From 2002 to 2008 Schleinert was a member of the editorial board of the magazine “Pommern. Journal for Culture and History ”. He has been a full member since 2005 and from 2009 to 2013 he was a board member of the Historical Commission for Pomerania . In September 2011 he was accepted into the editorial team of the Baltic Studies and since April 2016 he has been its editor. He resigned from this position in the spring of 2018 for health reasons, but was still temporarily responsible for the year 2018.

Schleinert published writings and essays on the history of Pomerania, which in addition to the magazine "Pommern" appeared in the Baltic Studies and in the Yearbook for the History of Central and Eastern Germany as well as in edited volumes. His research focuses on rural areas in the early modern period, the West Pomeranian landed nobility from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, and the Pomeranian ducal house in the 16th and early 17th centuries. The history of the Hanseatic city of Stralsund has also been the subject of his research and publications since 2014.
