Christian Kirksey (* 31 August 1992 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL) which, when the Green Bay Packers under contract. From 2014 to 2019 he played for the Cleveland Browns as a linebacker .

college

Kirksey, who also made a name for himself as a track and field athlete in high school , attended the University of Iowa and played college football for their team, the Hawkeyes . In 49 games he was able to set a total of 315 tackles and achieve 5.5 sacks . He also got two touchdowns .

Kirksey was selected by the Cleveland Browns in the 3rd round of the 2014 NFL Draft as 71st overall. He was already able to establish himself in his rookie season and was featured in all games, eight of them as a starter . After a rather mediocre 2015 season, the 2016 season was highly successful for Kirksey himself. Even if his team was ultimately the weakest in the league, he achieved the third best value of all players with 148 tackles. As a result of his consistently strong performance, the Browns extended his contract. For four years he received 38 million US dollars .
In 2017 he also achieved a peak value with 138 tackles.

In the 2019 season , Kirksey only played two games due to injury. He was released from the Browns on March 10, 2020.

Just six days later, he signed a two-year deal with the Green Bay Packers for $ 16 million .
